Often when we first try to sit and quiet our sensitive bodies and minds, things seem to get even louder. This is because we become even more aware of our response to all that we have been taking in. Highly Sensitive Children & Teens: Challenges with Transitions
Bigger picture transitions are always influencing a highly sensitive youth’s experience of other transitions which may be less significant. Essentially the more transitions the highly sensitive child or teen is going through at any given time, the smaller their window of tolerance will be for any transition, and the more escalated any problematic symptoms or behaviors may be.

Things your Empathic Child Needs to Know when YOU are Having a Hard Time
One of the more challenging experiences sensitive parents have is when we are going through a hard time and we know our sensitive, empathic children are reacting to it. Coping with Current Events
How are you coping with current events? Here are some of my recent self-reflections: a window into this HSP’s process!
Highly Sensitive Children and Anxiety
At the root of most HSC episodes of anxiety is a feeling of being unsafe in some way. Understanding that our anxious children are feeling unsafe is an important part of helping them cope. If you understand that their body feels like it is in danger, then it follows that in order to reduce their anxiety the HSC first needs to feel safe in their body. Without this feeling of safety, no words of reassurance will really sink in and be believed.
Centering as a Coping Skill for Highly Sensitive People
Since Highly Sensitive People are often very other-focused, as well as easily overwhelmed, it’s especially important for us to have multiple options for tuning into our own needs and coming into a centered state of being.
My Top 3 Favorite Body Based Relaxation Exercises!

HSP’s, Self Care and the Trauma Response
HSP’s often have every intention to practice self-care, but often we don’t follow through. In this blog, Carolina discusses how trauma responses may interfere with our good intentions, and suggests strategies to address this challenge.
Energy Boundaries Meditation
Highly Sensitive People of all ages may benefit from energetic boundaries. In Intuition Medicine®, your energy boundary is called your aura. This video gives a quick description of the potential benefits, and then guides you through a meditation to strengthen your personal energetic boundaries. Rejuvenate your energy by filling up your space with your life force, and releasing other energies that don't belong to you.
Does Your Highly Sensitive Child Have Clear Boundaries?
Highly Sensitive Children are constantly picking up more information about their environment than those who aren’t highly sensitive. They deeply process small details that many people aren’t aware of, such as the various sights, sounds, and textures in a room, or the emotional states of other people. Because of this high sensitivity, it is especially important for highly sensitive children to have tools which support them in feeling strong and centered. Maintaining clear boundaries is a key area of practice to develop this feeling of strength and promote resilience in the face of stress.
Full Body Breathing Exercises
HSP’s often experience feelings of emotional and sensory overload, and young people especially may have a hard time practicing calming strategies where one has to “sit still”. This video provides active HSP’s with a coping strategy that incorporates deep breathing and gentle movement.

Practice Joy!
HSP’s often experience feelings of emotional and sensory overload, and may feel like we don’t have enough joy in our lives. In this video, Carolina introduces the idea of having a “joy practice” as an antidote to the daily stressors we may experience. A joy practice has four simple elements: Intention, Body Awareness, Actively Cultivating Joy, and Paying Attention to the effects of our efforts to be more joyful. Try it for 30 days and see what happens!
